DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM

The Animal Kingdom is a spectacular theme park which is a totally new idea in the concept of theme park. The Disney organization describes it as “a new species of Theme Park”. The title is somewhat deceiving as many visitors go there expecting to see the familiar settings of a Zoo which it is not. It is a fun filled Safari expedition featuring spectacular landscapes, exotic animals, thrilling attractions and amazing live shows that the whole family will enjoy. A huge 14-story high tree is actually a sculpture in which dozens of artisans contributed some 300 animal carvings.

Expect to learn about animals, their lives, instincts, traditions and their particular environment; view them in their habitat and dealing with natural situations. Landscaping recreating those particular habitats with attention to details dominate the 500 acre park. To render the natural sensation of being among the creatures, there are no barriers, gates or other obvious separations. Buildings are no higher that 30 feet with crumbling and dilapidated walls to give the impression that time has taken its toll with vegetation spreading all over and roots sticking up into the walkways. Trees go as high as 40ft.

Among the shows there is the Festival of the Lion King, a journey into an African Savannah (Kilimanjaro Safaris), rendering of the Cretaceous period when the dinosaurs ruled the planet and lots of exotic birds and animals to view.

The Pangani Forest Exploration trail takes you into a lush, tropical forest, the type found in the heart of Africa where you can explore a variety of animals.

The Discovery island Trails are beautiful vegetated paths and trails around the base of the Tree of Life. Here you will encounter lemurs, Kangaroos and other small animals.

Guests are taken to a far away world of exploration and the mythical village of Serka Zong . Take a rugged train journey to the mystical mount Everest with all your expedition gears. Then, you embark on the Anandapura rail Service, an aging 34-passenger railway taking you to the foot of mount Everest.
